INFILL NO.1

This is one of several urban infill concept projects our office is working on.  This site is in an early 20th-century industrial section of Richmond.  This area is characterized by an originally strong street grid and pattern of occupation that has seen much of it's context slowly erode despite efforts to develop a residential community by converting the few remaining industrial structures. 

We believe in conversion of historic structures in order to continue to serve new and growing uses but we'd also like to see side-by-side development of contrasting and contemporary residential and work space.  We feel alternatives support each other.
